A photo project to destigmatise mental health issues among youths

I will someday travel the world and continue doing fantastic things with my life.“I was never diagnosed but I suspect I might have suffered from varying degrees of depression for much of my childhood, adolescent and adult life. I constantly felt lousy about myself in relation to my circumstances and peers. In the past, mental illness and psychological well-being was not something that was emphasised or paid attention to in schools, at home or in society. Mental illness was associated with being a ‘loony’ and ineffective person to society.I realise today more than ever, after years of therapy and self-help, that all my years of suffering needn’t have been half that difficult had someone around me recognised the need for and availability of help for people suffering like I did.My message to others out there who might be unsure or frightened to seek help - Stigma is over-rated. What is MORE important is this overwhelming sense of peace and happiness you will finally feel. I wish everyone will, right this moment, take the first step towards feeling better and seek help. “Watch your thoughts, for they become words.Watch your words, for they become actions.Watch your actions, for they become habits.Watch your habits, for they become character.Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
